NEW BOOK: Oxford Revival – A Speedway Success Story
Oxford – a speedway success story, by multi award-winning author, Ian Wagstaff, documents the remarkable story of the return of the sport to Oxford. When all appeared lost, a determined group of mainly volunteers refused to let their team vanish for good, and set about the mammoth task of bringing the derelict Oxford Stadium back to life. Spearheading the efforts were Jamie Courtney and Peter Schroeck, who worked tirelessly to construct a team from scratch while overseeing the stadium refurbishment. The Foreword is provided by Oxford’s greatest ever rider, multiple world champion Hans Nielsen.
It is also a book about an indomitable community spirit, a band of people from all walks of life united by a common purpose. Speedway has a long and proud history in Oxford, stretching back to before the Second World War. The return of the team after a 14-year hiatus ensures history will continue to be made.
