PRESS AND PRACTICE: Details of Oxford Speedway’s 2023 practice date, and you’re all invited!

Oxford Speedway is pleased to confirm details of this year’s Press and Practice session – and all supporters are invited to be part of the fun ahead of the new season.

The club will host its annual media day on Wednesday, March 22, with a packed programme of activities arranged during the day before gates open to the public for free in the evening when a full practice session is held at Oxford Stadium.

Riders will fulfil media and photo commitments in the morning at a unique location in the city centre with an Open Day planned in the afternoon for all new and existing sponsors.

The club can also confirm a brand-new range of merchandise including jackets, shirts, hats and scarfs will be available to purchase on the day.

In addition, Oxford Cheetahs will host a pre-season challenge fixture the following Wednesday (March 29) against a Championship Select side featuring a host of star names with details to be confirmed in the coming days.

Oxford Speedway promoter Jamie Courtney hopes the day builds on the existing excitement ahead of tapes-up in spring.

“Our regeneration campaign allowed us the opportunity to lay down the foundations required to build a healthy and successful future for speedway in the city,” said Courtney.

“We’re determined to build on last year’s success story and make Oxford Stadium the place to be on any Wednesday night from mid-March right through to October when the season concludes.

“We’re pleased to open Press and Practice to the public and allow our fans the chance to meet both the Cheetahs and Chargers teams ahead of their respective campaigns. All riders will be out on the track getting to grips with the surface and we’d love to see as many fans as possible.

“Exciting plans are also in place to host a major challenge fixture the following Wednesday featuring an unmissable opposing team, details of which will be confirmed as soon as possible.”

Oxford Speedway’s 2023 public practice session will begin from 6.30pm on Wednesday, March 22. No booking is required to attend the event, although limited parking is available on site.
