PREVIEW: Cheetahs back in business, as BSN Series campaign starts at Plymouth

SD TIMMO CAR SALES Oxford Cheetahs are seeking a positive start to their BSN Series campaign at Plymouth this evening (Saturday, April 11) at 7pm.

Recent issues – following the termination of a deal between SIS and Oxford Greyhounds to stream racing from the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium – led to the postponement of the home clash with Plymouth Gladiators on Wednesday night.

But – after several days of meetings – the situation has now reached a point where it is full steam ahead again for Cheetahs with the clash at Plymouth followed by a home clash with arch-rivals Poole Pirates next Wednesday (April 15).

Oxford and Plymouth join Poole Pirates in the southern section of the BSN Series. The group winners progress directly to the semi-finals, while the best-scoring runners-up across the three groups will also progress.

Plymouth were involved in two BSN Series matches over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend, but lost them both to Poole. Gladiators lost Danish rider Tobias Thomsen with multiple injuries, after an alarming crash with Richard Lawson at Poole.

Cheetahs are due to be at full strength at the Plymouth Coliseum.

Oxford manager Peter Schroeck said: “As I’ve said before, when you look across the various groups in the BSN Series, it doesn’t come any more competitive than the southern section, which features ourselves, along with Poole and Plymouth.

“Plymouth have put together a very competitive side this season – but we’ve pulled off some decent results at the Coliseum in the past.”

The next meeting at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium sees SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs at home to Poole Pirates in the BSN Series next Wednesday (April 15). Supporters are urged to show their support for the club with a large attendance against their arch-rivals.
