PREVIEW: Confident Cheetahs Aim for First Bonus Point of the Season
The Monarch Oxford Cheetahs travel to Edinburgh on Friday 07 June in Cab Direct Premiership action and are aiming to collect their first aggregate bonus point of the season.
The Cheetahs have been in buoyant form at home and were disappointed to have narrowly missed out at Workington last month. Following a strong win at Sandy Lane last week, Oxford lead by eighteen points and team manager Peter Schroeck believes that the team can get a win
“We have some riders with a really good record there and we can definitely achieve a result”.
Oxford will be without both of their usual reserves as Henry Atkins remains on the injured list and Ashton Boughen will be taking his place in the SGP2 qualifier at the Macon circuit in France.
Jacob Hook, who guested so well for the Cheetahs at Sandy Lane on Wednesday, will replace Ashton Boughen, with Chargers star Jody Scott coming in at number seven for Henry Atkins.
For the Monarchs, Josh Pickering has declared himself fit and will make his return to the side following his recent injury. Reserve Max James will not be riding following a broken rib and will be replaced by Monarchs Academy rider Max Perry.
Attention will then switch to Belle Vue on Saturday night for the 2024 Attis Insurance Sports Division British Final which has THREE representatives from the Oxford Spires. Previous winners Chris Harris (2007, 2009 & 2010) and Charles Wright (2019) will be joined by Lewis Kerr. Tapes up and at 7.30pm, with the winner bagging the wild card spot for the British Grand Prix at Cardiff in August.
