Chargers take centre stage at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium from this Sunday, plus preview for Poole vs Cheetahs
DEFENDING CHAMPIONS Real Mini Company Oxford Chargers are looking to end the 100 per cent record of Leicester Lion Cubs in the WSRA National League at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium this coming Sunday afternoon (August 23) at 3pm.
Accompanied children are again free, as they are throughout the whole season at Oxford Speedway. The afternoon meetings involving the Chargers are ideal for those with younger children.
With the home fixtures completed for senior club Oxford Cheetahs, it’s the Chargers who take the spotlight at Cowley for the rest of the season. There are also meetings against Buxton and Edinburgh (dates to be confirmed) on the way.
Leicester (in 2022 and 2024) and Oxford (in 2023 and 2025) have traded NL titles in the last four years. Lion Cubs are again in contention this season and have won three meetings out of three – although they have yet to ride in an away meeting – while it looks like that current league leaders Edinburgh Monarchs Academy will be their main opposition for the title this season.
Oxford manager Peter Schroreck said: “While Cheetahs have completed their official home fixtures, we’ve still got plenty of action to go at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium this season featuring the Real Mini Company Oxford Chargers.
“I urge our loyal fans to come along on Sunday afternoon, when the lads take on the Leicester Lion Cubs. Leicester always put together a highly-competitive side in the WSRA National League and that’s no different this season.
“With the Chargers, it’s about rider development first-and-foremost, while the lads never stop trying. Cheetahs may have finished, but please continue to support the club by supporting the Chargers, especially since Jody Scott and the rest of the team are now the main attraction at Oxford Speedway for the rest of the season.”
Tickets are on sale on the Oxford Speedway website at: https://oxfordspeedway.club/tickets/
Admission is available at the early bird price of £13 for all adults, which increases to £15 on Race Day. All under-16s go free. Ultimate Season Passes ARE valid for this meeting.
Please note, as usual with Chargers, the Unipart car park is NOT available for this meeting. On-site parking at the stadium is available for just £2, but it must be purchased at the same time as your online ticket. Any parking passes still apply.
On Race Day, there is now also the chance to buy tickets by cash or card at the box office (opening time to be advised).
A full preview for Sunday afternoon will follow later in the week.
THE SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs complete their fixtures in the Cab Direct Championship at Poole on Wednesday evening (August 19) at 7.30pm.
