PREVIEW: Cheetahs set out on northern tour to Glasgow and Berwick
SD TIMMO CAR SALES Oxford Cheetahs head north this weekend seeking away points in the Cab Direct Championship at Glasgow on Friday (July 3) and Berwick on Saturday (July 4).
Cheetahs were initially due to be missing both Mitch McDiarmid and Anders Rowe at Glasgow due to Polish commitments.
But the good news is that Rowe is now clear to ride. He spent a brief spell as a Glasgow Tiger in 2024, and clearly relishes racing around the circuit, since he scored 12 points in a tough World Championship qualifier at the Allied Ashfield Stadium on May 30 – a performance that has left him just five rides away from reaching the 2027 Grand Prix series.
Meanwhile, Cheetahs bring in Max Perry as a guest for McDiarmid.
On Saturday at Berwick, Cheetahs are due to track all seven of their own riders.
Cheetahs’ manager Peter Schroeck said: “Our approach this weekend is no different to any other meetings. We’ll take it one step at a time and our first task is to put up a good account of ourselves at Glasgow.”
The next meeting at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium is next Wednesday (July 8) at 7.30pm, when the SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs take on the Plymouth Gladiators in Cab Direct Championship action. Tickets are on sale on the Oxford Speedway website at: https://oxfordspeedway.club/tickets/
