Kids again free at Oxford Speedway, as countdown continues towards big clash against old rivals Poole Pirates on Friday evening

SD TIMMO CAR SALES Oxford Cheetahs are expecting a big turn-out at the Bet Goodwin Oxford Stadium on Friday (July 31 at 7.30pm) for the highly anticipated visit of the Poole Pirates in the Cab Direct Championship.

Poole are one of Cheetahs’ oldest rivals, plus they are the reigning Cab Direct Championship champions, having won the title in four of the last five seasons (2021, 2022, 2024 and 2025).

Accompanied children are free throughout the season at Oxford Speedway. But with this week’s meeting on a Friday evening – plus the current school holidays – makes it an ideal cost-effective night out for the whole family. Speedway is renowned for supporters of all clubs – of all ages – being able to mix on the terraces without any need for segregation.

Oxford Speedway will hold its annual collection for the Speedway Riders’ Benevolent Fund on Friday, the charity that provides funds for both long-and-short-term injured speedway riders. The club urges supporters to give as generously as they are able to this most worthy of causes.

Poole Pirates are currently unbeaten in six Cab Direct Championship outings, while Cheetahs have won seven out of nine home meetings this season, including the last three against Redcar, Plymouth and Berwick.

Promoter Jamie Courtney says: “Nobody has beaten Poole in the Cab Direct Championship this season, but they are not unbeatable.

“We did it in the BSN Series back in April, on a night when skipper Sam Masters dropped just one point, Dayle Wood was paid for 12 and everyone chipped in.

“Berwick did it to end Poole’s hopes of a 2026 triple in the MAXiCab Knockout Cup. But the rest have largely tried and failed.

“We’ll go into the meeting with an open mind, and we urge our supporters to come along and get right behind the Cheetahs on what is bound to be one of the highlights of the season at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium.”

Admission is available at the early bird price of £21 for all adults, which increases to £23 on Race Day. All under-16s go free. Spectators are also reminded that they will need to pay £2 when booking their ticket if they are planning to park in the Unipart car park. Parking at the Unipart car park is now fully restored and the club thank Unipart for their co-operation.

On Race Day, there is now also the chance to buy tickets by cash or card at the box office from 6pm.
