PREVIEW: Cheetahs hit the road at Redcar and Plymouth

SD TIMMO CAR SALES Oxford Cheetahs are seeking to pick up away points in the Cab Direct Championship this weekend at Redcar on Friday (June 19) and Plymouth on Saturday (June 20).

Oxford slipped to a 41-49 home defeat to Glasgow on Wednesday, but have ample opportunity to pick up league points in the next week – Cheetahs are also at home to Redcar Bears at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium next Wednesday (June 24).

Cheetahs are due to be at full strength for both away meetings this weekend.

Redcar are missing in-form Jody Scott (also the skipper of the Oxford Chargers), who crashed at Plymouth last Saturday and then withdrew from a meeting at King’s Lynn on Monday with a back strain. He is replaced by Max Perry.

Plymouth are without the injured Ben Barker. At the time of writing, it is expected that he will be replaced by the rider replacement facility. New signing Ben Whalley will make his debut for Gladiators.

Cheetahs’ manager Peter Schroeck said: “I know the boys want to hit straight back and they’ve got the opportunity to do so this weekend at Redcar and Plymouth.

“We take it one meeting at a time. It’s often very close when we go to Redcar and we want to make sure that it goes our way this time around.”

The next meeting at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium is next Wednesday (June 24) at 7.30pm, when the SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs take on the Redcar Bears in Cab Direct Championship action. Tickets are on sale on the Oxford Speedway website at: https://oxfordspeedway.club/tickets/
