Walk on, walk on!
THE intrepid walkers in the Walk Speedway fundraiser – including Oxford Speedway’s Laura Pollard – are finding their 107-mile trek just as tough and maybe tougher than they expected, but boosted by support from some stars of speedway and from supporters, they will not be beaten in their quest to reach Redcar!
The latest update is that they have completed 75 miles with 32 remaining. They have surpassed their fundraising goal for the Speedway Riders Benevolent Fund with the total standing at £5,540 but of course they hope to keep that rising!
Today they will be joined by Redcar and Ipswich rider Danny King, they expect the mighty Chris Morton tomorrow and Leon Flint has been walking with them already. Messages of support have come from Ricky Ashworth, Garry Stead and Scott Nicholls amongst others.
Walker Scott Frame of Talk Speedway says: “We’d like to thank Sarah Bulman and John Anderson for their help. It’s been a tough last few days with first aid required for blisters and knees which are not used to this kind of thing.”
They have been forced on to grass verges at times where no pathway exists but they are not going to stop now. The team are due at Redcar Speedway about 6pm tomorrow.
