PREVIEW: Cheetahs Handed Boost After Rain Postponement

The Monarch Oxford Cheetahs travel to Scunthorpe on Friday night for what will now be the first leg of the Cab Direct Championship Play-Off Semi-Final following the forced postponement of Wednesday night’s home leg.

Following two heavy downpours late afternoon, the Oxford promotion did all they could to try and make the Sandy Lane circuit raceable but had to admit defeat just before 8pm, with the tie quickly rearranged for the following Wednesday.

A disappointed Peter Schroeck, Team Manager, was clear that it was the correct decision
“At 1pm the track was perfect, but we had two downpours which made it impossible

Many questioned why the track was being worked on so late in the day
“We left it alone as long as we could, but we had to do some work, and it became obvious that it was not going to be raceable.

“We wanted to get the meeting on but on the other hand I did not want to throw the season away. It’s upsetting for everyone; it has also cost us a lot of money” he concluded.

Oxford have been boosted by the news that Cameron Heeps will be riding on Friday night, as he has been declared fit however, Jordan Jenkins remains on the sidelines and Dan Gilkes will ride as a guest in his place.

A reminder that the second leg of the semi-final has been rearranged for next Wednesday 18 September at 7.30pm. Everyone in attendance last night will automatically have their ticket transferred to the new date and tickets are also available to purchase at www.oxfordspeedway.club/tickets
