POSTPONED: Early call off for Poole leg of play-off final
DUE to ongoing rain, Poole Pirates have called off the first leg of the Grand Final of the Cab Direct Championship play-offs a day in advance. The meeting was due to take place at Wimborne Road in Dorset tomorrow (Friday) evening.
Monarch Oxford Cheetahs had already called off their meeting on Wednesday, following the heaviest rainfall on a single day in over 50 years in Oxford on Monday.
Pirates will re-stage their leg on Wednesday, October 9 at 7.30pm – which reverts to being the second and concluding leg.
The first leg at Oxford takes place on Saturday, October 5 at 7.30pm and will be the first Saturday speedway meeting at Oxford Stadium in 56 years.
The aggregate winners will become the Cab Direct Championship league champions for 2024.
While Oxford Chargers won the National League last season, Oxford have not picked up major silverware at either of the two senior levels since the 2005 Craven Shield.

Admission is available at the early bird price of £20 for all adults, which increases to £22 on Race Day. All under-16s go free. A reminder that Oxford Speedway is online ticket sales only – tickets remain on sale on the website until the start-time of the meeting. Please note any tickets purchased for the original date have transferred to the new date.
Oxford Speedway will re-stage the British Under-19 Final – another casualty of the weather over the last week – at Sunday, October 6 at 3pm, so there is a weekend feast of action for speedway fans at Cowley.
