Tungate grabs second and Masters amongst the points in Australian Championship opening round

Rohan Tungate made a strong start to his Australian Championship campaign when finishing second in Round One behind Max Fricke in North Brisbane.

The Oxford Spires heat leader dropped only two points from his five qualifying rides before holding off a strong challenge from Jaimon Lidsey to finish second overall with 16 points.

Also in the points on the night was Oxford Cheetahs’ number one Sam Masters, who returned with seven from five qualifying rides to narrowly miss out on a semi-final spot.

The five-round series moves onto Kurri Kurri in New South Wales on Sunday with other rounds scheduled at Albury Wodonga and Mildura before the final event at Gillman on Saturday, January 13.
