POSTPONED: Leicester v Oxford

WSRA Oxford Chargers powered by SD Timmo Car Sales were again out of the luck, when the first leg of the National League Grand Final at Leicester on Sunday afternoon was called off around 15 minutes after the 3pm start-time.

Unfortunately, conditions proved unsuitable for racing despite considerable efforts being put in by the Leicester track staff following the heavy rain of Saturday evening.

Riders from both clubs agreed to test the track prior to their match, with 15 minutes practice for the Leicester riders to be followed with 15 minutes practice for the Chargers. As it was, Oxford skipper Jordan Jenkins was the only Charger who got in any practice laps, following several incidents with home riders Tom Spencer, Ashton Boughen and Max James, who all came to grief.

James especially was fortunate to walk away with no serious injuries after a spectacular crash when he lifted on the exit of turn two.

The meeting was postponed shortly afterwards, with Leicester Speedway apologising to supporters for being unable to stage the event as scheduled.

WSRA Chargers are due to stage their home leg at Oxford Stadium on Tuesday (October 31) at 7.30pm.
