BRITISH SPEEDWAY STATEMENT: One-legged NL Grand Final at Oxford on Tuesday night

BRITISH Speedway Promoters’ Ltd can now clarify the arrangements regarding the National League competitions which have yet to be completed.

Both the NL Grand Final between Leicester and Oxford, and the second leg of the KO Cup Final involving Leicester and Mildenhall, have been subject to numerous postponements due to the weather over recent weeks.

The following decisions have been made taking several factors into account, including the forecast showing further rain which means there will be no attempt made to extend the season into November.

Oxford are scheduled to host Leicester at Cowley on Tuesday (October 31) in the NL Grand Final, and with the agreement of both clubs this will now be a one-legged tie with the overall result to be decided on the night.

Should the meeting be unable to take place at Oxford on Tuesday, Leicester will be declared champions as they were league leaders ahead of the Grand Final.

In the case of the NL KO Cup Final, Mildenhall have twice visited Leicester and been unable to race the meeting due to conditions on the day.

With Leicester now having no available dates on which to re-stage their home leg of the Final, the KO Cup has therefore been awarded to Mildenhall.

BSP Ltd have provided this statement in the interests of full transparency ahead of the scheduled Oxford v Leicester fixture on Tuesday, and we appreciate supporters’ patience as matches have been re-arranged.
