PREVIEW: Chargers seeking to finish 2026 season with a victory over Buxton Bulls at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium

REAL MINI COMPANY Oxford Chargers are looking to complete their 2026 season with a victory over the Buxton Bulls in the WSRA National League at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium on Friday (October 2) at 7.30pm.

It is the seventeenth and final home meeting of the year for either Oxford Cheetahs or Oxford Chargers at Sandy Lane. It is also the first time that Oxford and Buxton have met at Cowley in 19 years.

Chargers – the WSRA National League champions in both 2023 and 2025 – are looking to lift themselves up the NL table with a positive result. The positions are very close behind runaway champions Edinburgh. Any kind of victory for Oxford over Buxton would lift them into third place. All three points – including the aggregate bonus point – would take Chargers from sixth to second in a single bound. Buxton have a 51-38 advantage from the meeting in the Peak District on August 2.

Chargers lost 40-49 at home to Edinburgh on Sunday, although in doing so, they became the first side to score 40 points against the powerhouse Monarchs Academy this season. Skipper Jody Scott top-scored with 13+1, while Senna Summers collected 10+1.

Chargers introduce local Oxfordshire lad Archie Strong as the unattached replacement for the retired Mason Wason against Buxton, but otherwise are at full strength.

Congratulations to former Chargers’ skipper Jordan Jenkins, who has recently become a father.

Oxford manager Peter Schroreck says: “Overall, we’ve seen so much rider progression with the Real Mini Company Oxford Chargers this season and that’s what it’s all about at this level. For that reason, I’m just as happy with the lads this season as I was last season when we won the WSRA National League.

“Of course, it would be nice to take a victory over Buxton. There’s no pressure on the lads, but I know they would love to finish their season in a positive fashion.

“It’s the final speedway meeting of the season at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium. With it being the last chance to see some speedway action here this year, I’m hoping we can attract a few supporters who haven’t seen the Chargers before and I’m certain they will like what they see.

“A huge thank you to all the fans out on the terraces for their support of Cheetahs and Chargers this season. It does mean a lot to the riders and also to the management. We will never take their support for granted and planning for 2027 has already commenced.”
