Anders Rowe wins British Semi-Final at Leicester, while Jody Scott also qualifies for British Final
ANDERS ROWE, a heat-leader with the SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs, won the British Semi-Final at Leicester yesterday afternoon (Sunday) to head the six qualifiers into the British Final, which will be held at the National Speedway Stadium in Belle Vue, Manchester on Saturday, August 15.
Rowe finished second in his opening two outings, before a hat-track of victories in his remaining three rides left him on 13 points. That turned out to be enough for first place on the day when Jason Edwards, who was unbeaten from his first four rides, finished last in Heat 20.
Edwards took second overall and was joined on the podium by former British Champion Craig Cook, who also scored 12 points. Cook – who had spells with the Oxford Spires in both 2024 and 2025 – is currently without a British club.
An impressive qualifier was Jody Scott, the skipper of the Real Mini Company Oxford Chargers, who finished fifth on 10 points. The 19-year-old – who finished second in the British Under-21 Championship at Redcar in June – scored consistently at Leicester, with second place in Heat 19 confirming his first-ever appearance in a senior British Final.
A third Oxford representative was also on show. Cheetah Luke Killeen battled hard, but eventually finished 11th on five points and missed the cut.
Rowe finished sixth in the 2025 British Final at Belle Vue, which gained him a place in the World Championship qualifying rounds and he is just five rides away from the 2027 Grand Prix series, with the Grand Prix challenge taking place in Terenzano, Italy this Saturday (July 25).
There was also another Oxford victor on Sunday afternoon, with mascot Fraser Buckle winning the 125cc class in a British Youth Championship round at Belle Vue.
The next meeting at the BetGoodwin Oxford Stadium is next Friday (July 24) at 7.30pm, when the SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs take on the Berwick Bandits in the Cab Direct Championship. Tickets are on sale on the Oxford Speedway website at: https://oxfordspeedway.club/tickets/
