Gilkes Injury Blow for Cheetahs

The SD Timmo Car Sales Oxford Cheetahs powered by County Plumbing Supplies have been hit with an injury blow for popular Brit Dan Gilkes who has been ruled out through injury.

Gilkes fell at Poole during the Cheetahs impressive victory last week, and was in considerable discomfort with knee pain, taking a trip to the local hospital on the night. Further tests and checks have shown multiple ligament damage to his knee which will see him need some time to recover. Team Manager Peter Schroeck echoed the thoughts of everyone connected with the club
“We are gutted for Dan and our fans who took him to their hearts with his 100% commitment on track and we wish him a speedy recovery”.

With the Cheetahs about to commence their League campaign, and Gilkes likely to be out for a while, the management have moved quickly to sign Francis Gusts as a replacement, initially for twenty-eight days, to allow Dan the time to see what surgery and/or treatment is available to help speed his recovery. Peter Schroeck was pleased that it allowed Gusts to return
“It is an ideal opportunity for us to welcome back Francis to the club, although this time he will be representing the Cheetahs

“This will give him a further opportunity to establish himself in British Speedway” he concluded.

Gusts will make his Cheetahs debut next Friday, in the second leg of the MaxiCab Knockout Cup at Scunthorpe.
