PREVIEW: Championship top two meet in mouthwatering clash at Oxford Stadium

Records will be broken at Oxford Stadium on Wednesday as the Cab Direct Championship’s two unbeaten clubs go wheel-to-wheel in a mouth-watering clash between the top teams.

The Monarch Cheetahs have won all nine of their Championship fixtures to date and sit top of the table with a maximum 20 points secured. Visitors Glasgow Tigers are the only other side in the division to have secured all points available to them with six wins from as many meetings.

Both teams are yet to meet each other this season in any competition, and Cheetahs boss Peter Schroeck is relishing the challenge ahead. He’s been forced into making one change ahead of tapes-up, with Australian Rory Schlein stepping in to guest in place of the injured Lewis Kerr.

Schroeck described the fixture as being a true test of character for both teams and has every faith in his side’s ability to come out on top.

“Glasgow have been in outstanding form in the league this season,” said Schroeck. “They’re the inform team which only adds to the excitement for the supporters and ourselves before the meeting starts.

“Glasgow’s blend of youth and experience can be dangerous but we’re equally capable, and we have that all important home track advantage which we must use in our favour.

“One thing we can guarantee is no team will want to end the night with an ‘L’ next to their name. This is about making a statement to the rest of the division that the Cheetahs are on a mission this season following our regeneration.

“We’re grateful to Rory Schlein for stepping in for Lewis Kerr who continues to recover from his collarbone injury. The racing will be fierce and we’ll need our supporters behind the boys again if we’re to keep this 100% record going.”

Tapes-up at Oxford Stadium as the Monarch Cheetahs host Glasgow Tigers in the Cab Direct Championship is at 7.30pm. Tickets are available to purchase via the club website and ALL U16s go free with a paying adult.
