POSTPONED: Season Opener rescheduled for Wednesday, April 19

Oxford Speedway regrets to inform supporters that tonight’s hugely anticipated challenge fixture against Swindon Select has been postponed due to a poor evening weather forecast.

The meeting will now take place on Wednesday, April 19, and all tickets purchased for this evening’s original date will be automatically transferred to the rescheduled fixture.

Supporters who are unable to attend the rescheduled date are entitled to a full refund from Oxford Speedway. Anyone wishing to receive a refund should contact the club via [email protected] with their name and booking reference number.

Already confirmed for the rescheduled date is 2017 World Champion Jason Doyle, who has committed to representing the Robins badge at Oxford Stadium in three weeks’ time.

Oxford Speedway Promoter Jamie Courtney said: “Everyone at Oxford Speedway shares the frustration of our supporters that our season opener has been postponed.

“We’re comfortable with the decision which has been made in the interests of our riders, staff, hard-working volunteers and the fans – many of whom would have travelled long distances to be trackside.

“Our track covers have been down all week, but the volume of rain forecast locally between 6pm and 9pm would make our racing surface unsafe and we must always prioritise the safety of our riders.

“All tickets will be valid for the re-staging date on April 19 and we’re pleased to confirm Jason Doyle has already committed to leading Swindon’s team. We’d like to thank supporters for their understanding and patience and look forward to welcoming them trackside next week (April 5) when Poole Pirates visit for our first BSN Series fixture.”

Tickets for the Monarch Cheetahs’ BSN Series fixture against Poole Pirates at Oxford Stadium on Wednesday, April 5, are on sale now and can be purchased by clicking here. Adults are priced £20 and all U16s go free.
