PREVIEW: Spires Looking to Extend Unbeaten Run
The OXS Oxford Spires are back on the road Monday when they travel to local rivals the Curtis Sport Birmingham Brummies in ROWE Motor Oil Premiership action.
A successful week at Sandy Lane saw a win and a draw which maintained the all-important fourth position, which equals end of season Play-Off qualification. They are two points ahead of fifth place Leicester, who have ridden two less matches, leaving all the pressure on the Spires. Birmingham are currently at the foot of the table with just two home wins and one draw.
The Spires won at Perry Bar back on Easter Monday and team manager Peter Schroeck has set his sights on a repeat performance this time
“I fully believe that we can win again. No disrespect to Birmingham, but as away fixtures go, this is a must win meeting”
Oxford line up at full strength while the Brummies have been forced to draft in Luke Becker in as a guest for an unwell Steve Worral at number two.
All focus will then move to Manchester for the Speedway of Nations where there are two Oxford riders involved. Maciej Janowski will take his place in the Polish team and Erik Riss lines up for Germany.
The next Sandy Lane action is on Sunday 14 July 2024 when the Chargers will face the Scunthorpe Scorpions, with tapes up at 3pm. Tickets are available now at www.oxfordspeedway.club/tickets
