KO CUP: Second leg perfectly poised for Wednesday night!
Peter Schroeck has issued a rallying call to his Monarch Oxford Cheetahs side ahead of a crunch Cab Direct KO Cup fixture against Glasgow Tigers at Sandy Lane on Wednesday.
Cheetahs enter Wednesday’s second leg trailing by 12 points following Friday’s 51-39 reverse at Ashfield Stadium and have confirmed an unchanged septet from their recent trip north of the border.
It means scoring 52 points or more will guarantee the club’s spot in the competition’s semi-finals, a feat Schroeck has backed his side to achieve when tapes rise.
And Cheetahs’ team manager has called on the Oxfordshire public to turn out in force again by getting behind the squad in Wednesday’s do or die encounter.
“For the neutral this tie is perfectly poised,” said Schroeck. “And there’s every chance it could go down to the last race, but our aim is to wrap up a result much sooner.
“Glasgow will be targeting the same – they won’t make it easy for us and have proven they can win races on our track, so we’ll need to be on it.
“The second half of Friday’s first leg was tough. We ran fourth places in seven of the last eight heats which hindered our progress but on home shale we’ll look to use that track knowledge to our advantage.
“Often the noise from the terraces makes all the difference so we’re hoping to see plenty trackside and advance to the semi finals together.”
