Oxford Speedway confirm 2024 Chargers squad – with Luke Killeen announced as captain

Defending National League champions Oxford Chargers have confirmed the seven riders who will represent the club in 2024 – with Luke Killeen returning as club captain.

The talented teenager first teamed up with the Sandy Lane side as part of its regeneration campaign two years ago and has since gone on to represent the Oxford Cheetahs at Championship level.

He will be joined by 2023 teammates Jody Scott, Jacob Clouting and Jason Garrad with new faces including Alex Spooner, Ashton Vale and Senna Summers.  

It completes Oxford Speedway’s winter signing news with the club’s Premiership team Oxford Spires and Championship squad Oxford Cheetahs already confirmed.

Team Manager Peter Schroeck is pleased with all three squads and can’t wait to get going.

“The Chargers is a huge success story since Oxford Speedway returned two seasons ago,” said Schroeck. “We’ve been competitive in both campaigns of the club’s history and look forward to the challenges ahead in the new year.

“Having Luke double-up with the Cheetahs and Chargers again next season is great for us. He’s a rider with huge potential and has really bought into what we’re trying to achieve at Sandy Lane.

“Jody, Jacob and Jason played key roles in our title triumph in the autumn and we’re delighted to welcome Alex, Ashton and Senna into the camp.”
