PREVIEW: Kerr and Nicholls confirmed as Cheetahs eye another Championship win against Scunthorpe
The Monarch Oxford Cheetahs will welcome Lewis Kerr back into the squad on Wednesday when Scunthorpe Scorpions visit Sandy Lane in the Cab Direct Championship (7.30pm).
Kerr has been side lined following a crash at Sheffield but will return to the Cheetahs’ pit corner when Scunthorpe return to OX4 for their first visit since grand opening night in April 2022.
Also back in the Cheetahs side is Scott Nicholls, who returns from a period of compassionate leave, while Luke Killeen lines-up at reserve in place of Ryan Kinsley with the talented teenager declaring himself fit after picking up a wrist injury.
Team Manager Peter Schroeck said: “Having Lewis (Kerr) and Scott (Nicholls) back in the squad is a boost and Luke is raring to go after a period on the sidelines.
“Of course we’re sad to let Ryan (Kinsley) go but he has made key contributions to the team this season and remains an important rider within the club as we enter a crucial period in the National League with the Chargers.”
After a last heat reverse at Redcar on Friday, the Cheetahs remain top of the table, with the Scunthorpe Scorpions not far behind in third position.
Schroeck said: “Naturally the boys were gutted the winning run ended at Redcar on Friday. But to me that’s a positive sign – there’s a real drive within the squad to win every meeting we race and that’s a mentality we can use to our advantage.”
Tapes-up at Oxford Stadium is at 7.30pm and tickets can be purchased via www.oxfordspeedway.club/tickets. All U16s can attend for FREE!
