REPORT: Excellent Chargers take all the points in Edinburgh
The World Speedway Riders’ Association Oxford Chargers powered by SD Timmo recorded their biggest margin win of the season against Edinburgh Academy away from home on Friday night.
Helped by a full maximum for Henry Atkins and a paid maximum for Jordan Jenkins, Chargers won 32-57 to move up to third in the National League table – one point short of the two-team play-off frame.
Ryan Kinsley also weighed in with a double-figure points haul (11) while debutant Kelsey Dugard had an evening to remember at reserve scoring eight. Jacob Clouting registered two paid wins in both races he completed while Jody Scott returned with 4+1.
Guest Mark Parker scored 2+1 at reserve.
Team Manager Peter Schroeck described the win as timely and wants Chargers’ positive momentum to continue into tomorrow’s meeting at Berwick.
“Tonight was a big result for us,” said Schroeck. “Edinburgh Academy are by no means a weak team and they’ve won both of their home meetings prior to this evening convincingly.
“Jordan and Henry were outstanding, but the boys clicked as a unit which was vital in the outcome of the meeting. In the races both of our riders completed, we only registered three last places which is very pleasing.
“We’ll enjoy tonight, but celebrations won’t last too long as tomorrow we have another big meeting against a strong Berwick side.”
The WSRA Oxford Chargers powered by SD Timmo return to action on Saturday, July 3, when racing Berwick Bullets in the National League. Tapes-up is at 7pm.
